Job description

What You Will Do

Emergent Automation is looking for a Field Automation Technician to join their growing team to support our unique and diversified products around the upstream space of Oil & Gas. This position entails you performing a variety of troubleshooting and repair services on electronic instrumentation used in the automation industrial processes. You will support with system integration including instrument calibrations, control panel troubleshooting, potential VFD setup and commissioning, installation of replacement/new hardware to include instruments and PLCโ€™s and terminating new hardware. Qualified candidates must be able to identify parts and components for PLC, network, and software components; limited programming of PLCs, function test programmable logic, be the lead on installing equipment, troubleshooting software and identifying systems issues.

Expectations for Candidates

  • Read and interpret diagrams and documentation and communicates with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
  • Update / Test Firmware's on Microprocessors & PLCs
  • Monitor and test systems to observe system functionality and ensure that the programs function properly
  • Troubleshoots problems that occur, often related to changes in customer desires, incorrect instrumentation specifications, or other technical issues. Diagnoses and resolves software and hardware interface issues.
  • Will have to interact with manufacturers and 3rd party vendors software and application products, particularly regarding problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Good demeanor to work with others and solve problems collectively
  • Will be responsible to take service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair programming and system failures. This includes both over the phone and in person frequently.
  • Will perform frequently a variety of instrumentation services, including but not limited to troubleshooting, calibration, and testing by traveling to customer pad locations.
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation functionality and I/O operation.
  • Repairs instrumentation, thoroughly knows how to operate and resolve issues with multi meters and other tools
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of test for NAM manufactured equipment, whether part of rental fleet or sold to customer
  • Assists with project scoping of new projects for automating large industrial processes.
  • Uses computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce reports.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in Oil & Gas, ideally in an A&E Technician role
  • Associates / Technical College Degree at a minimum focused towards Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • The position does include a fair amount of drive time between WTX and New Mexico

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
