Job description

Job Summary

The Field Services Assistant supports plumbing and septic service operations by safely operating company vehicles, transporting equipment or materials as needed, assisting field crews, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and readiness. This role is critical to field efficiency and job site safety.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate company trucks safely and professionally to job sites and disposal facilities
  • Transport tools, piping, pumps, fittings, hoses, and job materials
  • Assist with jobsite setup and breakdown as needed
  • Support septic pumping operations (hose handling/loading/unloading)
  • Maintain vehicle readiness: clean cab, clean tank area, organize storage compartments
  • Conduct daily inspections of assigned vehicle (lights, tires, fluids, hoses, fittings, etc.)
  • Report maintenance issues immediately and document as required
  • Complete trip tickets, disposal logs, fuel logs, and daily vehicle checklist
  • Communicate effectively with office for routing, schedule changes, and job notes or photos
  • Maintain a professional image and courteous behavior with customers
  • Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools
  • Pump and assist in the repair of septic systems and grease traps  
  • Assisting on pump truck, locating, digging up, and pumping septic systems and grease traps  
  • All other duties assigned 


Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather as well as other elements
  • Exposure to septic waste environments 
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, climbing in/out of vehicles frequently


Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's License Required
  • Clear Driving Record Required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Reliable attendance and positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work efficiently
  • Must be comfortable asking and taking customer payments if necessary
  • Some understanding of Septic systems, materials, tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate well with customers and team members
  • Manage detailed reports of work done on job sites to ensure successful and adequate installations or repairs performed
  • Exceptional customer service and client focus
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
