The Opportunity

The Applications Scientist II will lead formulation of confectionary applications within the Glanbia Flavors portfolio, with deep hands-on expertise in gummies. This role partners cross-functionally with Flavor Creation, Sensory & Consumer Science, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to deliver best-in-class confectionary solutions across vitamin & mineral supplement applications, including gummy, chews, gels, and unique formats. The ideal candidate brings a strong grasp of standard confection formulation, fortification with functional ingredients in a confection base, and flavor/ingredient interactions to enable rapid prototyping, robust shelf-life, and efficient commercialization to support our customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow basic GMP, Procedures, GLP Safety, Lab Records
  • Develop confections, with emphasis on gummies, bases for screening and showcasing flavors
  • Modify application formulas and flavor systems based on feedback
  • Supports accounts in developing cost-effective, stable flavor solutions
  • Reduces formula costs, evaluates raw materials
  • Generate paperwork for customer projects including but not limited to tasting sheets, nutrition facts panel, and batch sheets.
  • Understand legal requirements for flavors and finished products
  • Demonstrate sensory skills and flavor characteristics knowledge
  • Independently complete projects and demos
  • Communicate effectively with cross functionally and with sales
  • Train & Mentor lab technicians
  • Acts as technical liaison to the customer, including presentations & travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or related field
  • Six years of experience in confectionary applications, including at least three years of hands-on gummy formulation experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
