Job description

We're expanding our portfolio at High Fidelity Property Management and are looking for an experienced maintenance technician to join our crew. This position will assist with maintaining the physical integrity of our rental units scattered across Chicago. 
Our Maintenance Technicians carry out assigned work orders in a safe manner as requested by the Property Manager. This position will diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance or repair, involving the following on a daily basis:
  • Basic electrical and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of A/C and heating systems.
  • Appliance repair or installation. 
  • Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings.
  • Tile, carpet, flooring.
  • Roofing, gutters, fasteners.
  • Interior/exterior lights.
  • Fireplaces.
  • Ceiling fans.
  • Gas fixtures and appliances (where applicable).
  • Shutters, doors, cabinets, windows, sliding glass doors.
  • Boiler, gas, and electric.
  • Doors and windows.
  • Change door locks, P.O. boxes, and locks.
  • Controlled access systems (where applicable).
  • Ceiling leaks.
  • Paint walls.
  • Repair drywall and patching.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and help coordinate all needed make-ready repairs and services to meet deadlines.
  • Report all major repairs and need requisitions to Property Manager prior to any expenditure of funds.
  • Change locks, rekey, and make new keys.
  • Ability to move items like small vanities, toilets, appliances and equipment.
  • Assist with moving abandoned items to a dumpster when necessary.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by Property Manager.

Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years experience in property maintenance or equivalent field.
  • Driving/traveling requirements - must have valid license and vehicle with insurance coverage.
  • Understanding of how to use a company-issued iphone and apps for communicating job notes, photos, and time clock. We use T-Sheets (Quickbooks) and Buildium property management apps.
  • We take safety and security very seriously. All new hires must pass a criminal background check.

Pay and Perks:
  • $25.00 - $30.00/hr based on knowledge and experience.
  • 401(k): 3% employee contribution / we match 3%, we will also match up to 4% on employee contributions of 5%.
  • BlueCross BlueShield medical insurance: employee pays 50% and we pay 50%.
  • BlueCross BlueShield dental insurance: employee pays 100%.
  • 2-week paid vacation time after 90 days.
  • Monthly gas stipend.
  • Company issued cell phone.
  • Company issued HomeDepot credit card.

Schedule:
  • 8:30 am-5:00 pm.
  • Monday to Friday.
  • Rotating on-call schedule for evenings/weekends every 4 to 5 weeks.
