Job description

Data Center Fiber Optic Technician - Councils Bluff, IA

  • 1st Shift 8-5pm
  • Start - End of July - Dec 2026
  • Must have prior experience working in a Data Center Environment


We are seeking an experienced Data Center Fiber Optic Technicians to support structured fiber cabling activities within a hyperscale data center environment.

  • The technician will inspect and clean fiber optic cables, install pre-terminated fiber cabling between racks according to customer-provided cabling matrices, label cables using customer-defined standards, and ensure all cabling is properly routed, secured, and documented.
  • Work will utilize existing ladder racks and cable pathways and requires strict adherence to data center quality and cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and clean fiber optic connectors using approved fiber inspection probes and cleaning kits.
  • Install pre-terminated inter-rack and intra-rack fiber optic cabling according to Google-provided cabling matrices.
  • Apply customer-specified flag labels to both ends of all fiber cables.
  • Route and secure fiber cables utilizing existing overhead ladder racks, cable trays, and pathways.
  • Maintain proper bend radius and cable management best practices.
  • Verify cable routing, organization, and labeling accuracy.
  • Follow all ESD, safety, and hyperscale data center work procedures.

Required Skills

  • Experience installing pre-terminated fiber optic cabling.
  • Fiber cleaning and inspection experience.
  • Familiarity with LC/MPO/MTP fiber connectors.
  • Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
  • Ability to read cabling matrices and installation documentation.
  • Strong cable management and labeling skills.
  • Experience using fiber inspection probes and label printers.
