Job description

NOW HIRING. Immediate full-time opening for a structured cabling technician for a well-established company with nearly 25 years in business. We have completed projects throughout North America and have a large footprint in the local and regional area as well. This position is not for a one-time project, it is for long term employment in a company that has an average length of employment of over 12 years. Typical installations are within the Inland Empire, as well as Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties. Networking experience is not required, IT technicians need not apply. 
 
Installations include structured cabling, surveillance cameras, access control systems, overhead paging/announcement, audio/visual, wireless, data centers, telecom room build-outs and daily move/add/change projects. This position will focus on physical infrastructure installation and deployment.
 
Position available – Structured Cabling Installation Technician
The Structured Cabling Installation Technician position will work closely with experienced project managers and will assist in all forms of infrastructure installation. The position will be responsible for all forms of installation, reviewing blueprints/floorplans for installation requirements, labeling cable, documenting plans with work completed, and assisting project managers with complete installations. 
  • Install low voltage cabling consisting of voice, data, CCTV, paging, etc. (CAT5E/CAT6/CAT6A/Fiber/Coaxial, etc.).
  • Build-out telecom rooms.
  • Work with the installation team on project layouts, and designs and determine efficient manners of completing installation goals.
  • Provide quality work efforts and post-project quality control.
  • Terminate work outlets and terminate telecom rooms.
  • Install and hang cable supports, sleeves, and related materials.
  • Install end point devices as directed. 
  • Adhere to all safety standards.
 
General expectations of all applicants:
  • Be punctual and prepared to work each day. As a Cabling Installation Technician, you will be working with other employees/crews and it is imperative that you are punctual each day.
  • Overtime and weekends may be available but are not mandatory.
  • Be able to climb ladders, lift 50lbs regularly and work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Be capable of operating scissors and boom lifts, working at elevated heights.
  • Provide proof of citizenship.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Maintain good communication skills, a positive attitude, and be capable of working with varying personalities.
  • Willingness to work, efficiently and in the best interest of the customer.
  • Work hours may vary with start times from 5am to 8am typically depending on project location.
 The ideal candidate will have experience with:
  • Knowledge of all forms of low voltage cabling including copper and fiber, overall understanding of wireless preferred. Not a requirement and the company will provide training for the right candidate. 
  • Able to install structured cabling including fiber, Category 5e/6/6A as well as coaxial and security cabling.
  • Efficient capabilities in terminations, dressing and labeling of all devices.
  • Understanding of building construction and pathways.
  • Ability and desire to learn quickly and work well with others.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents and plans.
  • Experience in installing conduit and/or electrical is desirable but not required.
