Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer II Technician to join our Outside Plant (OSP) team in Irvine, California. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of fiber optic infrastructure to ensure reliable network performance and efficient data transmission.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and telecommunications infrastructure, along with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Compensation

  • Splicer II Technician: $28–$30/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, and certification of network infrastructure
  • Utilize fusion splicers, OTDRs, and specialized testing tools to ensure low-loss connections
  • Conduct OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing to verify splice quality
  • Assist with installation and configuration of network equipment including switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of fiber and network systems in the field
  • Diagnose and resolve customer network issues on-site
  • Document repairs, maintenance activities, and network upgrades accurately
  • Conduct site surveys and network assessments
  • Provide technical support and maintain excellent customer service standards

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with OTDRs, fusion splicers, and fiber testing equipment
  • Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and networking concepts
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety compliance
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced field environments
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
