Quality Technician

Job Description

The Shift Quality Technician is integral to the production of quality products at ReVive Fiber. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this individual is responsible for performing standardized quality-control tests and audits of our manufacturing processes and products to assure internal and external customer quality expectations are met.  Quality Technician must be able to identify when situations fall outside specifications and act appropriately.

A successful candidate must have a strong working knowledge of mathematical concepts, excellent visual awareness, and the ability to efficiently monitor the integrity and quality of products without impeding production rates. In addition, they will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience as an inspector or quality technician is a plus.

General Responsibilities 

  1. Perform approved tests on all fiber samples to assure fiber quality.  Among the tests to be performed are:
    1. Determining Flag Content
    2. Determining Dust Content Using Willow
    3. Determining Fiber Length Using Fibrosampler/Fibrograph.
  2. Record all test results on approved form as well as in electronic files.
  3. Notify appropriate Manager on any fiber test result that falls outside of product specification. (the appropriate Manager can be the Quality Manager, Production Manager,  Technical Manager or  Supervisor depending on issue, time of day or who is available)
  4. Audit machine settings as designated by Quality Manager.
  5. Record all machine setting audit results on approved form as well as in electronic files.
  6. Notify appropriate Manager on any machine settings result that falls outside of product specification. (the appropriate Manager can be the Quality Manager, Production Manager, Technical Manager or Supervisor depending on issue, time of day or who is available)
  7. Maintain cleanliness and order in Lab area.
  8. Assist Quality Manager in any issue that will increase product quality.
  9. Promote a safe culture in work place by complying with all safety rules, including use of personal protective equipment and following all safety rules.
  10. Identify and tag all non-conforming materials in a timely manner following a failed test or observation of out of specification material.
  11. Have a willingness to inform others about quality concerns.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Core values consistent with integrity, honesty, and respect for people at all levels within the organization.
  2. High school education or GED. Be able to perform basic math functions, as well as the ability to  read and understand basic written and verbal instructions.
  3. Have ability to properly operate lab equipment.
  4. Have ability to enter data into computer using Microsoft Office software.
  5. Have ability to work shifts other than assigned when given appropriate notice.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Proactive and self-motivated to perform assigned tasks.


Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience as a quality technician is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of operations experience.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
