Job Summary:
As the Fiber Splicing Technician you will ultimately be responsible for splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic cables. You will coordinate fiber installation, maintenance, and network troubleshooting to deliver reliable and efficient connectivity solutions. As the Fiber Splicing Technician, your customers are Congruex field teams and telecommunications partners, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through quality workmanship, network reliability, and safe field execution.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Perform end-of-line network testing to verify balanced signal levels and proper network performance
• Prepare, label, and organize fiber optic cables to support installation and reduce errors
• Build, splice, seal, and maintain fiber cases, enclosures, tie points, and jumper cases
• Perform color-coded splicing, tray jumping, and multi-cable splicing within enclosures
• Read and interpret splice matrices, blueprints, and redline maps to identify routes and fiber assignments
• Troubleshoot fiber network issues, complete case swaps, audits, and enclosure rehabilitation
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
• OSHA 10 certification required
Experience
• Experience in fiber splicing, fiber optic installation, telecommunications construction, or related field preferred
• Experience reading blueprints, utility maps, and splice matrices
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to perform physical labor, climb ladders and poles, and work in confined spaces
• Ability to distinguish colors accurately for proper fiber connections and splicing
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and documentation
• Ability to maintain safe, organized, and efficient work practices
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior hands-on fiber splicing experience
• Experience working with underground and aerial fiber installations
• Familiarity with fiber testing and splicing equipment
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, squat, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors, in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, and at heights
• Must be able to wear required PPE including safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and applicable safety gear
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
