Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (LEA/LEB Licensed) in Boardman, OR. The Data Center Technician (LEA/LEB Licensed) will support the physical infrastructure of a hyperscale data center by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling and network hardware. The ideal candidate holds a valid Oregon Limited Energy license and possesses the leadership skills to mentor apprentices while ensuring all work meets mission-critical standards.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25 to $35 Per Hour BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class A (LEA)
  • Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class B (LEB)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic and copper structured cabling systems.
  • Oversee and supplement the work of apprentice technicians to ensure project compliance and quality control.
  • Perform Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) for server racks, network equipment, and power connectivity.
  • Utilize Fluke testers and OTDRs to certify cable runs and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of cable paths, labeling, and asset management logs.
  • Coordinate with project managers to meet deployment timelines and adhere to design schematics.
  • Provide smart-hands assistance for remote hardware troubleshooting and break-fix tasks.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following OSHA standards and data center security protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class A (LEA) or Class B (LEB) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a data center, telecommunications, or low-voltage construction environment.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic splicing, termination, and high-density cabling practices.
  • Strong understanding of TIA/EIA and BICSI standards for structured cabling.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, rack elevations, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or supervision to junior-level installers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights on ladders or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to distinguish between different colors for cable and wire identification.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling small tools and delicate fiber optic components.
