Job description

Job Summary

The OPS Multi-Trade Mechanic Intern supports maintenance operations by assisting skilled trades staff with routine maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC. This position provides hands-on training and exposure to facilities maintenance while working alongside experienced mechanics to develop practical skills in a professional environment.

Job Description

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists mechanics with installation, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and carpentry work.
  • Supports job site preparation and cleanup, including material handling, tool organization, and general worksite maintenance.
  • Assists with basic construction or repair activities such as structural assembly, component replacement, and equipment setup under supervision.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment while learning proper operational techniques and safety procedures.
  • Observes and participates in a variety of skilled trades activities to gain exposure to multiple craft areas.
  • Assists with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Supports basic documentation needs such as inventory checks, job site notes, and safety-related reporting.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognized technical or trade school program related to facilities maintenance, construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including standing, walking, lifting, and working in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and elevated areas.
  • Strong interest in learning skilled trades and maintaining safe work practices.
