Job description

At Houston Methodist, the Clinical Activation Project Manager position is responsible for leading the activation, transition, and move planning of new and renovated construction projects under the direction of the Director of Clinical Planning and Design. This position actively participates in all design phases to ensure clinical workflows, operational requirements, system standards, furniture, fixtures, medical equipment, art, and signage (FFE) needs and activation considerations are fully integrated into planning design, and construction decisions. The Clinical Activation Project Manager position combines deep clinical operations expertise with disciplined project management to support seamless transitions into new or renovated care environments. Key responsibilities for this position include oversight and development of FFE specifications, development, and management of activation plans, FFE scope, schedules, and budget impacts, proactive risk mitigation, and coordination of all FFE procurement and installation activities associated with activating new or renovated spaces and facilities.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business, or related healthcare field

EXPERIENCE
  • Five years of hospital clinical or healthcare operations experience
  • Experience in clinical planning and design, FFE procurement/coordination, activation/transition planning, move planning, operational readiness, and project management preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates and engages with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, construction, IT, Biomed, supply chain, outside vendors and regulatory partners, to ensure alignment across all FFE and activation activities.
  • Serves as a primary liaison between operational leaders, construction partners, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and align project expectations.
  • Partners with logistics consultants in developing move plans for each department and serves as coordinator of clinical move activities.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages the planning and procurement process for FFE and coordinates with information technology and supply chain on assigned projects, ensuring clinical workflows and FFE requirements are incorporated effectively.
  • Oversees activation tasks across design, planning, implementation, occupancy, and closeout.
  • Develops and distributes documentation such as meeting minutes, readiness trackers, risk logs, and activation plans for leadership review.
  • Supports readiness inspections and operational walk-throughs to verify clinical and operational preparedness.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Monitors and manages FFE specification development, FFE procurement and installation along with activation-related activities and works with clinical and project teams to ensure schedules are adhered to.
  • Coordinates and verifies compliance with regulatory readiness activities, including mock surveys, operational safety reviews, and clinical workflow validation.
  • Evaluates activation processes and identifies opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures equipment and supply needs are identified and coordinated in alignment with operational timelines and budget.
  • Monitors financial impacts related to the FFE specifications, and activation activities, including risks, procurement delays, and changes to project or activation scope.
  • Tracks procurement statuses of owner-furnished FFE and coordinates delivery and installation timelines.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and identifies opportunities to refine activation processes.
  • Stays informed on emerging trends in clinical operations, activation practices, and project management methodologies, while actively pursuing continuous development in project leadership and activation strategies to enhance overall performance.
