Job description

Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Retail Growth and Development (WWRGD) organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Strategic Category Procurement. This role requires dynamic leadership, independent decision-making, and the ability to navigate ambiguity as WWRGD scales development to meet ambitious growth targets. You will own category strategy across critical FFE and services, lead a team of category managers, and establish scalable mechanisms that enable rapid growth.
Key job responsibilities
Lead Strategic Category Management & Influence Business Strategy:
- Own procurement strategy across Design, Construction, Furniture, Fixtures, Building Systems, and Equipment.
- Develop multi-year sourcing strategies balancing cost, quality, speed to market, and supply chain resilience.
- Provide insights into supplier capacity, market conditions, and logistics to inform senior leadership decisions on growth plans and capital allocation.
Build and Develop Future Leaders:
- Lead a team of Senior Category Managers and Category Managers.
- Set goals aligned to Operational Plan commitments, provide strategic coaching, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer obsession to support fast track growth.
Drive Cost Leadership & Scalable Mechanisms:
- Establish procurement standards optimizing total cost of ownership.
- Lead the strategy for the Main Equipment Library (MEL), implement risk assessment frameworks, and develop benchmarking methodologies.
- Partner with Indirect Procurement on strategic sourcing events delivering year-over-year savings with governance that scales across formats and geographies.
Partner Cross-Functionally & Communicate at Senior Levels:
- Collaborate across stakeholders to align business inputs into best-fit solutions for equipment, materials, and services - incorporating technical standards, merchandising programs, performance specifications, and sustainability goals.
- Present to and influence VP/SVPs, representing procurement in OP planning, senior-level goals, key business reviews, and strategic planning sessions.

This role demands an influential, strategic leader who ensures supply chain resilience amid competitive industry pressures through effective category management strategies that secure lead time and cost optimization - enabling rapid scaling of the Grocery development pipeline. Experience in FFE procurement for food retail environments, along with established supplier and manufacturer relationships, is a significant advantage.

Our mission is to deliver best-in-class category leadership across the WWRGD value chain, driving cost optimization, scalability, speed to market, and supplier excellence through innovative strategies, deep industry expertise and collaborative partnership. As WWRGD scales grocery development, our team ensures supply chain resilience through procurement capabilities that support ambitious growth targets while maintaining cost discipline and operational efficiency. We lead category strategy across design consulting, construction materials and services, Grocery retail and industrial FFE, and building systems. Team members target improvement in total cost of ownership, working closely with extended stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of supply chain experience
- 5+ years of team management experience
- 6+ years of spearheading strategic cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable financial results and advance organizational objectives experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
- MBA, or Master's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
- Experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, or equivalent)
- Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
- Experience building and analyzing cost/benefit scenarios and business cases and communicating results throughout the organization
- 10+ years of procurement experience specific to fixtures and equipment in retail, construction, or facilities management environment, including cold chain management.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
