Primary Purpose:
The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in welding and agriculture science. The teacher will also prepare students to develop the competencies and skills required to earn various industry-based agriculture and welding certifications. Important job functions include teaching the curriculum, managing student behavior/safety within classroom/shop settings, and serving as an FFA Advisor.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and be able to drive district vehicles and haul trailers.
Education/Certification:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned. (Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Certification)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of FFA and Ag science practices related to the position.
Ability to prepare students for Ag related Industry Based Certification Exams and Welding Certifications
Ability to assist Campus Lead Ag Teacher with Livestock shows, barn management and supervision
Ability to manage student projects raising livestock at AISD Ag barns
Ability to attend, supervise student field experiences
Ability to professionally collaborate with other CTE/Ag teachers, parents, district stakeholders for the benefit of the Ag program
Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, some days in summer
Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial power tools and non-commercial power tools (drill, jigsaw, router, circular saw, etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community.
Ability to create and manage interactive, innovative, hands-on projects for student engagement and effectively teach and work with high school students.
Have a working knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program.
Experience: Preferred
Experience in the Agriculture industry and FFA organization.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
Salary: Teacher / 215 days
