We are a dynamic and fast-growing company committed to creating environmentally friendly solutions for food security. Our technology leverages unique electrical systems to generate nitrogen from air and water. We seek a highly motivated Fertilizer Production Technician II.
Job Summary
As a Fertilizer Production Technician II, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment that produces agricultural fertilizers at our Delhi, California plant. This role demands strong technical skills and a commitment to following all safety protocols to ensure efficient, effective, and safe production processes. The schedule is a rotating 4-days-on/2-days-off shift, working 12-hour shifts. This position is starting on the night shift, working 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, and will transition to the day shift, once the production facility is operational. Estimated night shift duration is 3 months. Flexibility and teamwork are key as we scale operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operating, cleaning, and maintaining reactors, pumps, tanks, blenders, and absorbers used in fertilizer production in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Monitoring and adjusting reactor parameters and equipment settings to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Performing water chemistry analysis and adjusting chemical feed(s) accordingly
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on plant systems
  • Troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime
  • Conducting basic product tests and inspections to ensure quality standards
  • Keeping accurate records of production, maintenance, and safety checks
  • Collaborating with engineers and R&D teams to improve processes and develop new products
  • Independently running complex, multi-system operations across a full shift without direct supervision
  • Reading and interpreting P&IDs and HMIs, and performing first-line troubleshooting without escalation in most cases
  • Following safety protocols and environmental guidelines to maintain a safe workplace

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED plus 4-6 years of experience in process, chemical, or fertilizer production; or an Associate degree (AA/AS) plus 2-4 years of experience in engineering, physics, mechanics, electrical systems, or a related technical field; CDL or a relevant technical certification is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with tools, machinery, or industrial equipment
  • Comfortable working with high-pressure systems
  • Comfortable completing electrical calibrations
  • Ability to wear a respirator and lift heavy equipment when needed
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LOTO, confined-space, and PPE procedures prior to hire
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration and water chemistry analysis (pH, EC, auto-titrations)
  • Forklift or scissor lift experience is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $33.00-$37.00 per hour, in compliance with California's pay transparency law (Labor Code Section 432.3). Actual pay within this range will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. This role is also eligible for Nitricity's standard benefits package.
