JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for administering and supervising medication administration and participation in the plan of care for clients. The Registered Nurse will respond to health needs of the clients, and making appropriate referrals and assessments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Administer and supervise the administration of medication to clients in residential treatment units, transitional living, Monarch School and After School Program within the established guidelines.
  2. Participate in the implementation of the plan of care for Bellefaire JCB clients.
  3. Make rounds in cottages and attends to health care needs of clients.
  4. Make physical assessments of clients, and documents significant findings in the client's record.
  5. Make appropriate referrals to the pediatrician after screening clients.
  6. Assist the pediatrician with examining clients in the Health Clinic.
  7. Teach clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
  8. Utilize the time log system to document billable hours of direct care.
  9. Perform medical treatments on clients when indicated (wound care, etc.).
  10. Orient new staff and trains them on policies and procedures.
  11. Attend client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
  12. Assist and trains cottage staff to make appropriate decisions pertaining to the health care needs of clients.
  13. Note, transcribe, and check orders against Medical Administration Record (MARs) when indicated.
  14. Contact the physician with abnormal lab results and with emergencies.
  15. Count narcotics daily and signs the audit sheets for controlled substances.
  16. Order, receive and distribute routine and Leave of Absence (LOA) medications.
  17. Return and credit medications when indicated.
  18. Call for lab results when indicated and follows up on outside medical appointments.
  19. Assist with daily operations of the Health Clinic. Assists the secretary with filing, obtaining consent and scheduling outside appointments.
  20. Keep the exam room and Health Clinic clean, stocked and orderly.
  21. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  4. Other duties as assigned by management.
