Position Overview:
Job Type: Full-Time and Part-Time
Schedule: 1st and 2nd Shift
Department: Long Term Care
Location: 3340 Hospital Road, Saginaw, MI 48603
At HealthSource Saginaw, we are seeking compassionate Resident Dining Assistants to join our Long Term Care team. Working alongside experienced nursing staff, you will assist residents during meal and snack times, helping to ensure their comfort and well-being.
As a Resident Dining Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our residents' daily care needs. Key responsibilities include assisting with feeding, maintaining a clean dining environment, and communicating effectively with the care team. Through your dedication and support, you will help create an environment where residents, coworkers, and you can Rise to Be Your Best.
What You'll Do:
The Resident Dining Assistant will perform the full range of assignments for residents including but not limited to:
  • Assist with meal and snack times by offering fluids, prompting, and cueing.
  • Greet residents and engage in mealtime processes.
  • Help residents navigate meal choices.
  • Enter resident preferences or requests into an electronic system and communicate those preferences to the Dining department..
  • Monitor resident swallowing, intake and meal response; promptly report any concerns (e.g., choking, coughing).
  • Clean up trays, dining areas/resident rooms and assist with meal setup.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of feeding assistance, intake data and any changes in resident condition.
  • Complete state-approved training program and work only with residents cleared as "no complicated feeding problems".
  • Work under the direct supervision of an RN or LPN; scope does not include transfers, toileting, full nursing care or tube feeding.

Requirements
What We're Looking For:
REQUIRED:
  • Must be at least 17 years of age. A work permit is required if still active in High School.
  • Successful completion of the eight (8) hour state-approved Feeding Assistant training program provided by HealthSource Saginaw.
  • Strong communication skills, compassion, reliability, and respect for residents' dignity.

PREFERRED:
  • Previous customer service experience.
