Job description

Warehouse Worker (Order Puller)

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Warehouse Worker will be working in an animal feed industry distribution warehouse, doing order puller and customer service.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build pallets and load/unload bags/drums onto and from trucks
  • Utilize computer system to receive ingredients/components and ship finished feed
  • Verify order versus Bill of Lading during receiving process
  • Understand and utilize the basic inventory management concept of FIFO (first in, first out) when dealing with product within the warehouse โ€“ both on the ingredient and finished product side of the operation
  • Maintain required documentation associated with all departments
  • After appropriate training and certification, operate a forklift, including pre-trip duties
  • Perform general housekeeping of warehouse area to meet OSHA standards, as well as a clean and safe working environment
  • Perform quality inspections

Additional responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

  • Methods and techniques for safe work practices

Ability to:

  • Perform daily safety inspections and identify safety hazards
  • Perform basic mathematical problems (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and customers
  • Follow written and verbal instructions; problem solve
  • Communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
  • Complete written work orders legibly and keep records to coordinate feed schedules
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Demonstrate good organization skills

Minimum job requirements, experience and training guidelines:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and carry up to 10 feet (e.g., sack feed bag)
  • Previous feed store experience a plus
  • Basic computer skills
  • Order Pulling- Must be able to read, write, and understand English

Special demands physical requirements:

  • Frequent standing for long period of time
  • Frequent bending, squatting and kneeling
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 80 pounds up to 100 feet
  • Frequent grasping, holding and reaching
  • Constant use of overall vision
  • Frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions
  • Frequent co-worker contact; occasionally working alone

Working conditions:

  • Work may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperatures and a noisy environment. May be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust, and dusty, muddy and slick environment. Adhere to all PPE Guidelines as established by OSHA and the company.
