Midwest Refrigerated Services is a full-service 3PL company providing refrigerated logistics services for the food industry. Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100+ trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler, and air-conditioned storage, distribution and cross-docking services. We operate refrigerated and non-refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting and fulfillment needs. General Position Overview:

This position must possess and maintain a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver License for at least 2 years. Qualify meeting the requirements of a Federal Medical Card and the fit for duty standards. Be able to operate all facets of tractor / trailer combination equipment in a satisfactory and safe manner. Possess strong communication abilities to interface with customers and the public representing the company in a positive and professional manner.

Compensation:

  • Average Annual Earnings: $75,000-$100,000+
    • Activity Based Pay- Miles, stop, pick up and detention.
      • Mileage Bands
        • 0-150 miles =$0.75/mile
        • 151-300 miles = $0.70/mile
        • 301-500 miles = $0.65/mile
        • 501-750 miles = $0.60/mile
        • 750+ miles = $0.55/mile
      • Other
        • $28.00 Drop and pick up pay - all drops that are live load/unload
        • Detention = $23.00/per hour (after 2 hours, in 30 min increments)
        • Layover pay = $240.00/per day- starting on third day.
        • MRS offers Over the Road Driver Retention up to $5,000.
        • Safety Bonus- Annually and quarterly
        • Referral bonus- up to $1,500 per referral.
    • Paid via direct deposit Bi-weekly

Home Time, Route & Schedule:

  • Home Time: Home Weekly for Wisconsin Residents
  • Schedule: 5 and 1/2 days out and home 1 and 1/2 days per week
  • Route: Multiple Stop consolidation over-the-road fleet running from one of our consolidation locations in the Milwaukee area setting sail to deliver to 48 states
    • Generally, our loads are 1-7 drops taking 1-2 days to deliver, and drivers get a backhaul then return back weekly to the Milwaukee terminal.
  • NO Touch Freight: Drop and hook or live unloads using lumpers.

General Accountabilities include:

  • Complete daily logbooks & vehicle inspection reports
  • Complete customer & task specific trip reports
  • Hooking/unhooking various tractor trailer combinations, lower/raise landing gear & open/close cargo doors.
  • Observe & abide by all company policies in the Company Handbook/ Driver Safety Manual
  • Operate within the guidelines of all state & federal DOT regulations.
  • Accurately & legibly complete all required paperwork associated with the delivery of freight.
  • Maintain a daily record of duty status in accordance with federal, state & company requirements.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to repeatedly bend at the waist/neck, twist & rotate hands, wrists, shoulders, elbows and forearms.
  • Ability to appraise, evaluate & adequately respond to environmental strain/emotional stress.
  • Ability to withstand abrupt hour changes, irregular work/rest cycles, noise/vibration, temperature/weather extremes, irregular meals, and delays.
  • Available for flexible start/finish time to accommodate customer requests.
  • Be able to climb in and out of tractor & trailer

Prerequisites:

  • Possess & maintain a valid Class “A” CDL Commercial Driver License for at least 2 years.
  • Possess satisfactory, verifiable experience and/or appropriate training in Interstate Commercial Class “A” Vehicle Operation & the transportation of freight.
  • Meet the requirement of a Federal Medical Card & the Fit for Duty Standard
