What is a FedEx Driver Helper?

FedEx Driver Helpers are seasonal or temporary employees who assist FedEx delivery drivers during busy periods, such as the holiday season. Their main responsibilities include helping drivers load and unload packages, delivering packages to customers’ doorsteps, and sometimes assisting with route navigation. Driver Helpers do not typically drive the delivery vehicle themselves but work alongside the driver to ensure packages are delivered efficiently and on time. This role often requires physical stamina, as it involves lifting packages and walking for extended periods. It is an entry-level position that provides experience in the logistics and delivery industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a FedEx Driver Helper?

To thrive as a FedEx Driver Helper, you need physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to lift and move packages safely, with no formal education required beyond a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with package scanning devices and basic navigation tools is often needed to assist with deliveries efficiently. Strong teamwork, communication, and a customer service mindset help you build rapport with drivers and customers alike. These skills ensure timely, accurate deliveries and contribute to a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.

What can I expect from a typical day as a FedEx Driver Helper, and how physically demanding is the job?

As a FedEx Driver Helper, your typical day involves assisting the delivery driver with loading, unloading, and delivering packages to residences and businesses. The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting of packages that may weigh up to 75 pounds, as well as walking, climbing stairs, and working in various weather conditions. Teamwork is essential, as you'll coordinate closely with the driver to ensure efficient and accurate deliveries.
