Job description

100% Tutoring 
  • Tutoring activities include, but are not limited to, reading aloud to students, providing students a chance to practice reading, facilitating activities to improve specific skills such as fluency and comprehension in reading/literacy, working through math problems with students, explaining concepts, and facilitating activities to improve specific skills such as conservation of number and automaticity in mathematics. Aside from tutoring, the tutor should also seek to be a positive role model providing students with the encouragement and support needed to improve each student's self-confidence and interest in reading/literacy/mathematics.
  • To promote progress in reading and math, the tutor will have a regular tutoring schedule with students and maintain consistent communication with parents.
,The Academic Tutor provides personalized support to students in need of extra literacy (pre-K through elementary) and numeracy instruction (K through 9th grade). Service is provided to students in the Lawrence Community at the Lawrence Public Library.
