Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno's Fitness & Recreational Sports (FRS) department is recruiting for a Student Worker for the Intramural Sports Official. This position is responsible for officiating all intramural sports and special events offered by or sponsored by the Fitness and Recreational Sports department. They oversee the in-game management of intramural sports while ensuring a fun and safe environment for participants and staff. Officials must possess a good attitude, strong communication skills, with the ability to enforce rules, policies, and procedures fairly. Intramural Officials are required to attend all mandatory training clinics and staff meetings. This position is for the Fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
Attend all required trainings and clinics
Assist in securing the facility at the conclusion of activities
Assist in pre- and post-game set up and break down
Assess playing surfaces and ensure safe environment for participants and staff
Enforce intramural and FRS policies and procedures during contests
Enforce rules of all sports consistently and fairly
Encourage good sportsmanship and assist IM supervisor in awarding sportsmanship grades
Evening and weekend work as required
Effectively communicate with participants, staff and Recreational sports coordinator
On time arrival for all trainings, shifts and events
Promote and market intramural activities
Support supervisors with signing-in participants and verifying eligibility
Will be held to higher sportsmanship requirements while participating in Intramural Sports
Required Qualifications
Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 requirement throughout the year to qualify for the position
Required Certifications
Concussion Certification (Provided by FRS if needed)
CPR Certified (Provided by FRS if needed)
