Job Description
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager.
Student worker will assist employees in the Student Life Department.
Student workers are responsible for assisting the Office of Student Life staff in the successful management and implementation of the student engagement experience including the Campus Center, Resource Center (Pantry), Associated Student Government, Inter-Club Council, and other programs and services.
Students will be cross trained to work in several of these areas and provide assistance with general office duties to include the following areas: information desk, technical/operation, services, event logistics, office and clerical assistance.
Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population.
Due to the nature of the campus activities and the Campus Center operations, some early morning and evening availability may be required.
ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND MONTHLY MANDATORY TRAININGS.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing program information
  • Office coverage (in Student Life and Associated Student Government)
  • Mail pick-up/delivery
  • Assisting students in the Student and Cyber Lounges
  • Serving students and providing resources at the Valley 360 Resource Center
  • Assisting in typing, filing, photocopying, and answering phone calls
  • Providing assistance in the information booths
  • Assisting with light cleaning
  • Operation of the student identification card machine
  • Assisting faculty, staff, and students with paperwork
  • Provide program related general support and assistance to the Associated Student Government and Inter-Club Council
  • Assisting in other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Student must possess a Federal Work-Study award letter for the current academic year
  • Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units fall and spring semester; 3 units summer
  • Student must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA
  • Student must have a current TB
  • Ability to follow directions in order to carry out the duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information disclosed.
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Student cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
