Description: HIM Manager

Shoshone Medical Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HIM Manager to lead our Health Information Management department. The HIM Manager oversees the daily operations of the department, ensuring patient health information is accurate, secure, accessible, and compliant with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management department.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate HIM staff.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and security of patient records.
  • Oversee medical record completion, release of information, record retention, and document management.
  • Monitor coding and documentation processes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement HIM policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, billing, quality, and administrative departments.
  • Monitor department performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, quality initiatives, and organizational projects.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and providers regarding health information and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in Health Information Management, medical records, or healthcare administration.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical records, coding, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
