Position: Lead Pilot

Location: Del Norte, CO

Airframe: King Air C90

Schedule: 14 Days On 21 Days Off

Annual Salary Range: Internal pilots, current pay + $5,000 stipend

We're hiring a Fixed Wing Lead Pilot responsible for leading, overseeing and supporting a team of Fixed Wing pilots at our Del Norte, Colorado base, and provide medical air transportation services to our customers. The Lead pilot will be qualified to fly our King Air C90 aircraft. Scheduled shifts run 14/21 and service day or night trips. Safety is a key pillar of our services; therefore, our pilots work on a quality professional team that are committed to high safety standards for the crew and our customers. This position will report directly to the Assistant Chief Pilot.

Responsibilities: 

• Work with a team of medical experts to safely transport customers to and from locations and facilities. 
• Ensure aircraft readiness for flight dispatches as described in the appropriate manuals, including all FAR and company requirements, and aircraft cleanliness duties. 
• Maintain accurate record keeping required by regulation by regulation (review pilot duty flight hours required by 135.267 and load manifests required by 135.63), and record keeping for shifts.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with both air and ground dispatch, flight crews, facilities and partners. 
• Provide shift change info to transitioning pilot and team and follow protocols for recording company change board details. 
• Maintain required certifications and ongoing ground and air training. 
• Committed to being on-time, reliable, professional and meet our elevated standards in safety and service.  
• Aid in the operational certificate oversight of the pilots and operation of company aircraft.
• Aid the Assistant Chief Pilot in executing their duties and responsibilities.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of the General Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, applicable accreditation requirements, and applicable company policies and procedures.
• Act as the Chief Pilot's liaison with the pilots, promote a high level of pilot morale and deal with any day-to-day pilot needs as necessary.
• Conduct or ensure completion of line audits on a sampling of pilots and aircraft monthly for continued compliance with all appropriate company policies and FAA regulations.
• Ensure the maintenance of base aircraft supplies such as fuel, load manifests, de-ice fluid, oil, and Prist.
• Assist the Chief Pilot to ensure line pilots are provided with current FAR/AIM, GOM and pertinent operational information as described in 135.83.
• Report facility needs at aircraft bases to the Program Director and additionally to the Director of Operations if there is an operational impact.
• Report any changes in the region to approaches, airways, ATC procedure & airports to the Chief Pilot.
• Report to the Chief Pilot on pilot issues such as a need for counseling, inability to obtain a required certification, a pending law enforcement action, safety issue, deviation.
• Attend base, public or pilot management meetings as required by the Chief Pilot or Director of Operations.
• Ensure that new pilots assigned to their region have been given a thorough orientation of facilities, fueling procedures, parking locations, crew vehicles, driving directions and any other pertinent information that will aid new pilots in transitioning to new operational regions.
• All duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Pilot in Command job description.
• Other regional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MinimumRequired Qualifications: 

• Commercial Airplane Multi Engine Land (C-AMEL) Required.
• Must be willing and able to obtain ATP within 5 years of employment. 
• The ideal candidate will have single pilot IFR experience.
• Previous medevac and/or cargo experience preferred.  
• Valid and unexpired driver's license. 
• Current FAA First- or Second-Class Medical Certificate. 
• 2,500 Total Flight hours.
• 2,000 Fixed Wing hours.
• 1,000 PIC hours.
• 500 Cross Country hours. 
• 500 Multi-Engine hours.
• 100 Night hours.
• 75 Instrument (50 in actual flight) hours. 

Preferred Education:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or higher. 

Working Conditions: 

• Required to work in outside weather conditions. 
• Must be able to work night, day, and overnight shifts as assigned.
• May need to de-ice the plane, assist with towing the aircraft and maneuvering in and out of the hangar, prep the plane for flight.
