Crow Service Unit | Crow Agency, Montana | Full-Time

ABOUT THE POSITION
Stafingo holds an active federal delivery order for one full-time Optometrist at the Crow Service Unit (CSU), administered under the Billings Area Indian Health Service in Crow Agency, Montana. The CSU delivers comprehensive eye care to approximately 6,000 tribal members. Many patients travel over 100 miles round trip to receive services — your work here makes a direct, lasting impact.

This is a non-personal services contract. You will operate independently within the IHS facility, fully supported by government-furnished space, equipment, and clinical staff.

SCHEDULE & HOURS

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | 40 hours/week

2,080 regular hours per year

Up to 260 overtime hours available (patient load dependent)

Federal holidays excluded

Occasional after-hours coverage for emergency eye care

Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital — Crow Agency, MT 59022

Lodge Grass Health Clinic — Lodge Grass, MT 59050

Pryor Health Station — Pryor, MT 59066

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from an accredited institution

Board Certified — National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO)

Current, valid, unrestricted Optometry license in any U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory

Accredited Optometry Residency with minimum 6 months specialty experience

No lapse in clinical practice exceeding 6 months prior to start date

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Valid state driver's license

Ability to pass federal Level I and Level II background checks (required for all IHS facilities)

CLINICAL SCOPE OF PRACTICE

Comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis, and management of visual and ocular disease

Prescribe corrective lenses, therapeutic pharmaceuticals, and oral medications

Minor surgical procedures: foreign body removal, corneal debridement, suture removal

Emergency outpatient eye care — trauma and pathology management

Inpatient consultations as requested by attending physicians

EHR documentation to Joint Commission and CMS standards

Multidisciplinary care coordination with hospital team

Patient population: newborn through geriatric; high prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, and chronic disease

Federal background checks (Level I & II via OPM eQIP)

IHS credentialing and privileges review

Immunization documentation (Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, TB, annual Flu)
