Is optometry becoming oversaturated?

Optometry as a profession has experienced growth due to increasing demand for eye care services, driven by an aging population and rising awareness of eye health. While some regions may see more competition, overall job prospects remain stable, especially for those with strong clinical skills and the ability to adapt to technological advancements like electronic health records and diagnostic tools.

An optometrist can diagnose glaucoma through comprehensive eye exams and perform initial management, such as prescribing eye drops to lower intraocular pressure. Optometrists often work closely with ophthalmologists for ongoing glaucoma care.
