Job description

Federal Financial Auditor

Salary: $90,000 - $105,000/year

Empirical is seeking a Federal Financial Auditor to support a high‑visibility federal financial management, data quality, and audit readiness mission. If you have strong experience in federal data analytics, dashboard development, and data quality testing, this role offers the opportunity to directly strengthen the accuracy, transparency, and reliability of a major federal program’s financial and operational data.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, cash‑flow projections, and financial modeling.
  • Perform variance and trend analysis, expenditure reviews, and risk identification.
  • Track and reconcile agency allocations and reimbursable agreements.
  • Support invoice processing, including validation, routing, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Analyze financial and operational data and prepare reports, dashboards, and briefings.
  • Support internal controls testing and compliance activities.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and contribute to process improvements and modernization.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting federal budget or financial management operations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation or security clearance.


Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience applying U.S. GAAP, OMB Circular A‑123, and GAO Green Book.
  • Experience with G‑Invoicing
  • Experience supporting working capital funds, enterprise funds, or reimbursable programs
