POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for transporting children from school to home or from home to school. Picks up children along the scheduled route and ensures they remain in their seats until they reach their destination.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Transport children to and from school.
  2. Pick up children along scheduled routes at the same time every day.
  3. Before stopping, operate the stop sign and flashing lights on bus to alert traffic.
  4. Pick up students in the morning and return them home or to the designated bus stop in the afternoon.
  5. Check the bus tires, lights, and oil and do other basic maintenance.
  6. Pick up and drop off kids at designated locations.
  7. Follow a planned route on a time schedule.
  8. Ensure children stay in their seat at all times.
  9. Discipline unruly children.
  10. Follow traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations
  11. Follow safety procedures to make sure they and all kids are safe
  12. Carefully navigate roads and watch for ice, debris, or slippery spots.
  13. Report accidents immediately.
  14. Drive students to field trips, sporting events, and other activities.
  15. Enforce rules regarding conduct.
  16. All other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, & TESTING: High school diploma or GED; Indiana Driver's License with endorsements P and S; State of Indiana issued Yellow Card, Subject to random drug and alcohol testing, complete and pass the necessary CDL physical requirements for the State of Indiana.
EXPERIENCE: Must have a good driving history record.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL SKILLS: Must meet all physical fitness requirements for the both Federal DOT and the State of Indiana.
REQUIRED GENERAL SKILLS: Exceptional problem-solving and written and oral communication skills; strong ability to process tasks using online resources and a variety of software, including standard office software.
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position.
