Position Overview
Our partner is seeking a motivated Federal Financial Management Analyst to support a growing portfolio of financial management and modernization initiatives within the Defense sector.
This role will focus on federal financial management, audit readiness, internal controls, financial systems, and business process improvement. The analyst will also have the opportunity to use modern data and analytics technologies to improve financial reporting, automate processes, analyze large financial datasets, and support data-driven decision-making.
The ideal candidate has experience within a federal environment and a foundational understanding of financial management, accounting, audit, or related business processes. This position offers the opportunity to work with technologies such as Power BI, Databricks, Palantir Foundry, Celonis Intelligence, and emerging AI solutions while developing expertise across federal finance, analytics, technology, and consulting.
Position Responsibilities
  • Support assessments of financial risks, accounting processes, and financial reporting to strengthen internal controls and improve audit readiness.
  • Assist with financial management system implementation activities by providing finance and audit support throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain Process Control Narratives (PCNs), process documentation, and other audit-related artifacts for key financial management processes.
  • Apply federal guidance and standards, including NIST 800-53 and FISCAM, to support compliance, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial process documentation.
  • Participate in Business Process Reviews (BPRs) by documenting current-state processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting process modernization efforts.
  • Support the tracking and management of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and assist with resolving Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs).
  • Analyze financial data and develop dashboards, reports, and other analytical solutions using technologies such as Power BI, Databricks, Palantir Foundry, and Celonis.
  • Support the automation of routine financial processes and reporting workflows using modern analytics and emerging AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients, Independent Public Accountants (IPAs), and cross-functional government stakeholders to support audit readiness activities and project milestones.
  • Support financial management transformation initiatives involving finance, accounting, data analytics, business process improvement, and emerging technologies.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve financial reporting, operational efficiency, internal controls, and decision-making through technology and automation.
  • Manage multiple project responsibilities and coordinate communications across internal, client, and government stakeholder groups.
Required Skills/Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience within a federal environment.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. Clearance sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience or knowledge related to federal financial management, accounting, audit readiness, financial reporting, or related business processes.
  • Knowledge of guidance and requirements from key federal regulatory organizations, including the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple tasks, priorities, and project responsibilities.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple organizations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative consulting and government environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CDFM, CGFM, CISA, CISSP, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Familiarity with federal audit protocols and ongoing audit readiness initiatives.
  • Experience supporting internal controls, Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), Notices of Findings and Recommendations (NFRs), or financial audit remediation.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53, FISCAM, or related federal compliance frameworks.
  • Experience participating in Business Process Reviews (BPRs) or business process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Databricks, Palantir Foundry, Celonis Intelligence, or similar data and analytics platforms.
  • Interest or experience with AI-assisted analytics, intelligent automation, or agentic AI solutions.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal agency financial management environments.
