They handle both civil and criminal cases arising under federal law and have the authority to make rulings, issue orders, and conduct trials. Federal District Judges are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, serving lifetime terms unless they resign, retire, or are removed. Their responsibilities include interpreting and applying federal laws, ensuring fair trials, and protecting the constitutional rights of all parties involved.

Federal District Judges often manage heavy and diverse caseloads, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to make timely, well-reasoned decisions.
