Job description

JANITORIAL WORKER
At Bobby Dodd Institute, we believe in an inclusive world where people of differing abilities can lead more independent and purposeful lives when provided the right guidance, support, and opportunities.
Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, we are looking for a janitorial team member who performs those cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications.
This role is part of a federal AbilityOne contract, which mandates that most of the work hours must be carried out by individuals with disabilities. Due to program requirements, this particular position must be filled by a person with a disability.
This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sweep and mop hallways, stairs and offices.
  • Empty wastebaskets and dispose the trash in prescribed manner.
  • Dust horizontal surfaces.
  • Clean bathrooms.
  • Clean glass and windows.
  • Wash walls and other vertical surfaces. -
  • Vacuum rugs.
  • Mix cleaning solutions.
  • Maintain issued equipment.
  • Notify supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.
  • Cooperate with team members.
  • Other duties assigned by Custodial Supervisor.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must be able to stand a majority of the work time, walk a significant portion, and sit. He/She must be able to lift/carry 35 pounds and push/pull 35 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle. All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers. Reasonable accommodations for physical requirements will be considered.
OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have three (3) to six (6) months training or experience working as a janitor preferred, or be capable of learning to perform the essential functions. Must be able to pass security clearance for designated contracts. The ideal candidate should hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent and demonstrate a strong sense of integrity.
