Summary Statement

The Delaware Department of Justice is looking for a highly\r\nmotivated and experienced litigator to serve as a Deputy Attorney General in\r\nthe Office of Impact Litigation, part of the Fraud & Consumer Protection Division.\r\nThis is a significant opportunity to do complex and high-impact legal work in\r\nareas of immediate local and national importance. \r\n\r\nThis position reports directly to the Director of the Office of\r\nImpact Litigation and will represent the Attorney General and the State in a\r\nbroad range of impact litigation and investigative matters aligned with the\r\nAttorney General's policy priorities. You will pursue affirmative litigation\r\nacross a wide range of subject areas, collaborate with multistate partners, and\r\ncontribute to the development of amicus briefs, rulemaking comments, and other\r\nadvocacy efforts that shape law and policy at the state and national level. Essential Functions

The\r\nDeputy Attorney General will handle affirmative litigation and investigations\r\nin support of the Attorney General's policy objectives, including multistate\r\nand in-state matters involving federal accountability, constitutional rights,\r\nenvironmental protection, firearms safety, healthcare, immigration, employee\r\nlabor protections, and oversight of Delaware's charitable entities. The role\r\nmay include leading or supporting investigations that could lead to future\r\nimpact litigation efforts.\r\n\r\nIn\r\naddition, the Deputy Attorney General may assist with the development and\r\nreview of amicus briefs, rulemaking comments, and position letters on\r\nnon-criminal matters. This includes working closely with other Deputy Attorneys\r\nGeneral and a Paralegal to track incoming materials, conduct legal research,\r\nand prepare recommendations for the Attorney General's consideration. The\r\nDeputy Attorney General may also participate in drafting original briefs,\r\ncomments, or letters to reflect and implement the Attorney General's policy\r\ngoals.\r\n\r\nThe\r\nposition may also include work related to the Attorney General's charter\r\nrevocation authority, requiring coordination with the federal Office of Foreign\r\nAsset Control (OFAC) and the Delaware Division of Corporations. Other duties\r\nmay be assigned by the Director of the Office of Impact Litigation as needed. \r\n

Job Requirements

Candidates\r\nmust have exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work independently,\r\nand a proven track record of meeting deadlines. A minimum of four years of\r\nlegal practice experience and a solid understanding of complex civil litigation\r\nare required. The strongest candidates will have at least ten years of\r\nexperience handling complex litigation in both federal and state courts, along\r\nwith excellent writing and oral advocacy skills. \r\n\r\nWe\r\nseek an individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to public service and\r\nadvancing the public interest. Admission to the Delaware Bar, or a willingness\r\nto sit for the next Delaware Bar examination, is required. \r\n
