Job description

Second Nature Brands is on a mission to grow from $500M to $1B over the next 2 years through an aggressive combination of M&A and organic growth. We have an opening for a Maintenance Technician position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth.

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Second Nature Brands. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment in our food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, ensuring all production equipment runs efficiently while adhering to food safety and quality standards. This position will be based out of our Kar’s Nuts Products facility located at 1200 East 14 Mile in Madison Heights, Michigan.

Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 10:50pm to 7:00am, with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $26 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.


Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production equipment, packaging machinery, conveyors, boilers, refrigeration systems, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide timely resolutions to maintain production efficiency.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols, including lockout/tagout.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure equipment operates in compliance with SQF (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment performance.
  • Assist in equipment installation, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Adhere to FDA, SQF (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Preform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in maintenance, mechatronics, or industrial technology preferred.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skill.
  • Must be able to read and write in English proficiently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Standing for 8-10 hrs
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by company.


Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high.
