Job description

NAFI Connecticut provides programs, consultation, and support services in a variety of settings across Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. We work with adults, children, and families to increase communication and social skills, improve relationships, increase circles of support, and provide therapeutic services based on best-practice research. We believe that people can change, and we work to empower each individual in their own care.
We are currently hiring a dynamic Therapist in our Family-Based Recovery (FBR) program
The FBR Clinical team provides intensive clinical psychotherapy and substance use treatment for the parent (s) and attachment-based parent-child therapy to the parent-child dyad. Treatment and support services are provided in a family-focused, strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and responsive to each child's individual needs.
Therapists provide direct services to clients, meeting them in their homes, in schools, or other settings that best meet the needs of the client/family. Each Therapist will serve as the parent-child therapist for six of the 12 families on a full caseload, and as the individual/substance abuse clinician for the other six of the 12 families. FBR services will provide training in both components of the model to each therapist during the initial training. FBR Services will also provide ongoing training and support to each therapist during weekly consultations and quarterly trainings.
Job responsibilities:
Therapists work as part of a clinical team to provide direct services, which include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Determines DSM-5 diagnosis in consultation with Supervisor, director, or Psychiatrist, as needed to complete treatment plans and service contracts
  • Implements treatment plans, modifying them as appropriate during the course of treatment
  • Discharge planning, which may include linkages to community and support services
  • Provides case management services
  • Completes clinical documentation required by agency and program policies, HIPAA regulations, and funding sources
  • Rotating after-hours on call
  • Maintains utilization and productivity targets determined by the program
  • Participate in Quality Assurance
  • Assist with family transportation needs and other program needs as appropriate
  • Ability to communicate effectively using engagement strategies, motivational Interviewing, and other needed skills as required by evidenced based model
  • Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines
  • Informed on cultural, gender, and trauma-responsive approaches to families
  • Participate in required supervision, training, and program/agency meetings
  • Some evening hours required
  • Organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Cultural competency to serve targeted populations
  • Contributes to NAFI-wide community initiatives to increase visibility in the communities we serve as well as support the development of meaningful community linkages
  • Maintain a valid driver's license, ability to drive, and reliable automobile transportation
  • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with children, parents, and community resources
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and the use of electronic health records

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling
  • Licensed or Receipt of provisional license (LMSW, LPC-A, LMFT-A)
  • Skilled in therapeutic interventions, advocacy, and crisis intervention
  • Ability to function independently and as a team
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Salary: $70,000.00 / per year
