JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Materials Test Development Engineering position provides critical insights to Andersen's engineering teams by evaluating how products and materials perform under a wide range of mechanical forces and environmental conditions. This work spans both laboratory and real-world applications, with analysis ranging from events occurring in milliseconds to performance trends observed over years.
Operating within Andersen Corporation's Research, Development, and Innovation organization, this role is responsible for developing advanced experimental test methods that generate material data for simulation and modeling efforts, analyzing complex material datasets to characterize key performance attributes, and providing data-driven recommendations on material reliability to stakeholders across the R&D organization. The position serves as the technical owner of advanced measurement and testing technologies, including CT scanning, Digital Image Correlation (DIC), photogrammetry, cyclic fatigue testing systems, universal testing machines, dynamic mechanical analyzers (DMA), and parallel plate rheometers. The role also drives the evaluation, development, and implementation of emerging testing technologies to support future business and innovation needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and execute advanced material and component testing methods to evaluate performance under mechanical loading and environmental conditions.
Generate high-quality material characterization data to support engineering simulations, predictive modeling, and product development activities.
Analyze complex experimental datasets to identify material behaviors, performance trends, and reliability characteristics.
Collaborate with technicians to collect and validate measurement data using a variety of advanced testing methods.
Train and mentor technicians on test setup, inspection procedures, and measurement techniques as required.
Plan and conduct laboratory and field-based investigations to assess short-term and long-term material performance.
Serve as the technical subject matter expert and owner for advanced measurement and testing technologies.
Document test results and communicate engineering findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders through technical reports and presentations.
Travel within the United States as needed (up to 10%).
