JOB SUMMARY:
Plans and directs research and development activities to introduce new productsfor manufacture. Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals todevelop design for products. Reviews and directs activities for currentproducts that are subject to revisions. Directs and coordinates manufacturingprocesses in the industrial plant required for the development of new productsand/or execution of continuous improvement.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies:
Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such asobjective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized fromfindings, cost of project, and equipment required.
Develops and implements methods for monitoring projects, such as preparation ofrecords of expenditures, research findings, and progress reports to informmanagement of status of each project.
Identifies, in conjunction with sales and engineering management, promisingareas of fastener products that address unmet needs and have potential marketshare available.
Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design forproducts.
Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determinefeasibility of product proposal.
Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares designmodifications as required.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling toensure efficient production methods.
Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detaileddrawings and schematics.
Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product orsystem.
Plans and develops experimental test programs.
Analyzes test data, reports to determine if design meets functional, andperformance specifications.
Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development ofsystems or other uses.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to performengineering and design tasks.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw validconclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariable.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the City ofIndustry, CA location.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College or university inengineering discipline.
Six (6) years related engineering experience, includingexperience with research and development responsibility in a high-volumemanufacturing environment with methods and processing exposure. Aerospace Industry experience preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years' experience using Solidworks
ERP experience creating Bill of Materials
Proven experience working in a design for manufacturing environment
Experienced at effective Root Cause Analysis
Excels in a fast-paced work environment
Continuous Improvement Experience
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Other Qualifications:
Some travel may be required.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Designsoftware; Development software; Manufacturing software; Project Managementsoftware; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiringtransparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $90,000 -$115,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors,including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, andgeographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives likeequity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our recruiting team during the interviewprocess.
