Bankers' Bank has offices in Madison, WI, Des Moines, IA, Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN.
Bankers' Bank is seeking a Director of Payments in our Madison, WI headquarters who will serve as the enterprise subject matter expert and owner for Bankers' Bank payment products. Will include legacy products (Image Cash Letter, ACH, Wires, RTP, FedNow, and International) as well as guidance on product direction, market position, risk, and strategy. Position requires regular business travel, including operation of a motor vehicle.
Payment Solutions & Product Innovation
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of payments and cash management products
  • Translate business strategy into product strategies, roadmaps, and solution offerings
  • Partner with technology team to evaluate market needs, select, and implement new technologies, platforms, and delivery channels that modernize payments capabilities
  • Collaborate with business development and client-facing teams by providing subject matter expertise, solution guidance, and innovation-focused support materials
  • Ensure product systems, processes and clearing strategies are continuously monitored and optimized for efficiency, compliance and customer experience
  • Provide recommendations for the development of new products/services, product enhancements, based on customer insights, industry benchmarking and research
  • Develop and market via various mediums the products and services offered
  • Help establish products and services delivery and management processes and procedures
  • Develop marketing plans and strategies for payments products and services

Business Relationship & Market Strategy
  • Proactively identify emerging market opportunities in payments, market trends, new solutions and developing proposals that advance the bank's innovation strategy
  • Develop go- to- market strategies for payment products, payment enhancements and related treasury innovations
  • Partner with Business Development teams to increase product adoption, client acquisition, and revenue growth
  • Conduct in-person sales calls and high- impact presentations to clients and stakeholders to showcase emerging solutions and future- state capabilities
  • Develop analysis and plans to leverage product sets to target customer bases
  • Identify new market opportunities, customer needs, new revenue streams, and develop targeted growth strategies

Leadership
  • Provide strategic and visionary leadership over the payments product portfolio, including the design, development, innovation, and performance of payment solutions, ensuring operational excellence, market competitiveness, and full alignment with the Bank's strategic objectives and growth targets
  • Define and execute a multi-year payments strategy and roadmap for payments innovation, aligned with market trends, product evolution, regulatory expectations, and Bank objectives
  • Provide leadership and development direction for partnerships to support products and services
  • Partner with Executive Management to shape and execute the strategic plan, with a focus on payments modernization, platform transformation, and future-state capabilities
  • Maintain deep awareness of payments industry trends, competitive landscape, international trade considerations, and emerging technologies to proactively guide organizational strategy
  • Act as the voice of the market, representing client needs to executive leadership, product, and technology teams
  • Develop innovative strategies to enhance sales of products and services
  • Collaborate with Internal Bank Divisions on Payments & Cash Management products and services capabilities and cross-marketing
  • Organizes ongoing customer training opportunities related to department products, processes and services

Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, banking, business or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the position functions of the job. Seven or more years of experience in payments, treasury services, or financial services product management. Deep expertise across multiple payment rails working with payment transactions across multiple payment rails, or other related experience. Experience developing payments product requirements, specification, and roadmaps demonstrating payment capabilities and future potential. Strong understanding of payments operations, compliance, and risk frameworks and experience within finance and/or banking industry. Must possess a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include experience within a Bankers' Bank or correspondent banking environment.
