Responsibilities may include creating digital prototypes, testing smart materials or wearable tech components, and leveraging software for design visualization and pattern making. You'll often attend meetings to ensure alignment between technical specifications and creative vision, troubleshoot production challenges, and research emerging fashion tech trends. This role frequently balances hands-on technical tasks with creative brainstorming sessions, making it ideal for those who enjoy working at the intersection of design and technology.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Fashion Tech position, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Fashion Tech, you need a combination of fashion design sensibility, understanding of garment construction, and proficiency in digital design tools such as CAD and 3D modeling software; a degree in fashion technology or a closely related field is often preferred. Familiarity with tools like Adobe Illustrator, CLO 3D, and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, as well as knowledge of fabric technologies and wearable tech integration, is highly beneficial. Creative problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with both design and engineering teams are essential soft skills. These competencies are vital for effectively merging technological advancements with innovative fashion concepts and ensuring successful product development.
