Main purpose of the Retail Operations Manager role:

The Retail Operations leader is responsible for building, standardizing, and scaling operational excellence across all retail locations. This role ensures stores operate efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with brand standards, while enabling growth through new store openings, process innovation, and best-in-class inventory management. This individual partners cross-functionally with Retail, Planning, Merchandising, Finance, and Facilities to deliver a seamless and elevated store experience that drives sales, profitability, and team productivity.

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership

  • Define and evolve the retail operating model to support rapid fleet expansion and revenue growth
  • Partner with executive leadership to build a 1-3 year retail operations roadmap, including systems, staffing, and process scalability
  • Own key operational KPIs, including store productivity, labor efficiency, and contribution to profitability
  • Build and lead the Retail Operations function, including hiring, developing, and structuring the team as the business scales
  • Serve as the cross-functional connector between Retail, Planning, Merchandising, Finance, and Technology to ensure seamless execution

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Develop, document, and maintain scalable SOPs across all areas of store operations
  • Create a centralized and easily accessible operations playbook for store teams
  • Ensure consistency across locations while allowing for market-specific nuances
  • Continuously audit and refine processes to improve efficiency and reduce friction in-store
  • Partner with field leadership to ensure adoption and compliance

Training & Enablement

  • Design and implement operational training programs for store teams and leadership
  • Partner with L&D (or build from scratch) to create onboarding tools, certification programs, and ongoing education
  • Develop training materials for systems, inventory processes, and operational workflows
  • Support field leaders in driving accountability and operational excellence across all shift
  • Identify gaps and proactively evolve training based on business needs and store feedback

Program Exploration & Implementation

  • Identify, evaluate, and pilot new tools, systems, and operational programs (e.g., RFID, workforce management, POS enhancements)
  • Build business cases for new initiatives, including ROI and scalability
  • Lead end-to-end implementation, including testing, rollout strategy, and training
  • Establish success metrics and continuously optimize programs post-launch
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to bring innovative solutions to the retail fleet

New Store Openings

  • Own operational readiness for all new store openings
  • Develop and execute store opening checklists, timelines, and cross-functional alignment plans
  • Partner with Real Estate, Store Design, and Visual Merchandising to ensure seamless execution
  • Oversee setup of systems, inventory processes, back-of-house organization, and operational flow
  • Provide on-site or remote support during openings to ensure a strong launch

Facilities & Maintenance Oversight

  • Partner with Facilities to manage ongoing store maintenance and repair needs
  • Establish clear processes for issue reporting, escalation, and resolution timelines
  • Track and analyze maintenance trends to proactively address recurring issues
  • Ensure stores consistently meet brand standards and provide a best-in-class environment
  • Support budgeting and vendor management related to facilities

OpEx Budget Support

  • Provide input into store-level operating expenses, including supplies, maintenance, and operational tools
  • Partner with Finance to track, forecast, and manage OpEx across the fleet
  • Identify costโ€‘saving opportunities without compromising store experience
  • Support development of scalable budgeting frameworks for new and existing stores

Inventory Management

  • Own end-to-end inventory processes across all stores
  • Develop and enforce best practices for receiving, transfers, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy
  • Partner with Planning and Allocation to ensure optimal product flow and in-store availability
  • Lead shrink reduction strategies and investigate discrepancies
  • Implement tools and processes (e.g., RFID) to improve visibility and accuracy
  • Establish reporting and KPIs to track inventory health and operational performance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of retail store and retail operations experience (multi-store, high-growth environment preferred)
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, store systems, and operational workflows
  • Experience leading new store openings and scaling retail infrastructure
  • Proven ability to build SOPs and training programs from the ground up
  • Analytical mindset with experience managing budgets and operational KPIs
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
  • In office (Cerritos)
  • Ability to travel up to 60% for store visits and New Store Openings
