Position Overview
The Fashion Director is responsible for curating, developing, and executing the overall fashion strategy for a specific merchandising family of business. The Fashion Director is at the helm of translating fashion trends into tangible product assortments that resonate with the target demographic and drive sales. This role entails overseeing the entire fashion cycle, from trend forecasting and product development to merchandising and retail presentation. The Fashion Director profoundly influences our aesthetic identity and market positioning, shaping consumer perceptions and driving sales growth through strategic product assortment planning and trend forecasting. Through their visionary leadership and keen understanding of consumer trends they drive immediate business success.
A Day In The Life
Trend Forecasting and Analysis: Stay abreast of global fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market dynamics. Utilize trend forecasting resources and market research to anticipate upcoming trends and translate them into actionable insights for the brand. Present key ideas to merchant teams on a seasonal basis. Product Assortment Planning: Collaborate with merchandise partners to develop a well-balanced product assortment that aligns with the Burlington's identity and meets the needs of the target audience. Ensure a cohesive mix of styles, colors, and price points. Define and identify pre-season testing opportunities. Merchandising Strategy: Develop merchandising strategies to Uphold and strengthen the brand identity through strategic product selection, branding initiatives, and marketing campaigns. Maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints while continually seeking opportunities for brand elevation and differentiation. Provide relevant and actionable opportunities to merchant partners. Inform and inspire internal stakeholders and decision makers. Market and Vendor Management: Cultivate strong relationships with vendors to secure advantageous partnerships, exclusive collaborations, and favorable terms. Develop and adhere to the go-to market process calendar to ensure information is provided at relevant dates and hits all critical milestones. Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of fashion professionals. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to foster skill development and career advancement within the team. Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and store management, to ensure alignment and cohesion across all aspects of the retail business. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment to drive collective success.
You'll Come With
Education: Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Skills and Abilities: Extensive experience in fashion retail, with a proven track record of success in fashion buying, merchandising, or product development roles. Excellent leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence across functional teams and at all levels. Skilled in the visual, written, and verbal communication of trend in specific product categories. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible to changing priorities. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
