Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Beef Intern. This temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Beef Operations Administrator. 


Specific duties and responsibilities of a Beef Intern include, but are not limited to,

  • Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
  • Support the beef team around upcoming beef activities while gaining a deeper understanding of the Select Sires beef business and beef industry.
  • Gather missing beef bull data points and support photos for the website and beef sire directory.
  • Potential to help the barn crew in domesticating BART bulls in admittance.
  • Assist the Beef Operations Administrator with requested projects related to BART,  acquisition, and production.
  • Provide support and assistance for all details around international beef tours.
  •  Assist with bull and progeny photos.
  • Provide support and assistance for all details around beef team activities
  • Ride along on breeding projects to gain hands on experience with beef customers and beef representatives. Capture information for bull marketing purposes.


A Beef Intern 's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A Beef Intern

  • Excellent database skills, Skilled in Microsoft® Office Programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to plan and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A BEEF INTERN: 

  • Comfortable working independently while maintaining communication with the team
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and act on them
  • Beef animal handling experience
  • Photography and videography skills 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A BEEF INTERN:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree with preference for an agricultural background/experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A BEEF INTERN:

  • Two years of secondary education

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A BEEF INTERN: 

  • Occasional travel may be required
