Job description

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.
Summary
The General Laborer position performs a variety of tasks in the packaging and processing departments including but not limited to case packing, tote dumping, tote building, tote closing, inspection, palletizing and sanitation duties.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operates a product hopper to dump frozen product on the packaging line
  • Builds cardboard totes, tapes and inserts corner posts
  • Loads cardboard totes into tote erector, inserts liner and tote corners into finished tote
  • Inspects product for defects and removes foreign material from vegetables on a conveyer belt
  • Works in the high care room to close totes of product on the conveyer
  • Ensures that cases are hand packed with the right count of bags and sealed properly
  • Manually hand stacks cases of finished product while following a stacking template
  • Wears personal protective equipment while cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment during down time. Will use water, chemicals, brush, squeegee to clean machinery and floors
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time up to 12 hours
  • Ability to bend/stoop frequently
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including rain gear, hard hat, safety goggles and hearing protection
  • Ability to work with and around a variety of cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently
  • Ability to work in fast paced environments
  • Ability to use stairs and work at heights on a catwalk
  • Ability to stack cases above shoulder height up to six feet
