This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Austin, TX.
Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Ag and Livestock Assistant to join the Farm & Garden Department.
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving individual for the weekends to help support daily operations with a strong focus on animal care, Member experience, and service. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on farm work, takes initiative, and values a close-knit, community-oriented, and team-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care (Primary Focus):
  • Feed, water and monitor livestock daily (e.g. chickens, goats, etc)
  • Clean and maintain animal housing and bedding areas
  • Assist with health checks, record keeping, and minor veterinary tasks
  • Handle animals calmly and safely
  • Help with seasonal animal-related tasks (e.g. shearing, hoof care maintenance and management, etc)
  • Assist Members by facilitating engaging and informative animal interactions by offering expert insights on species behavior and habitat, while ensuring both guest and animal welfare are prioritized

Other Duties Include:
  • Greet and assist Members at the Farm
  • Provide Information about the farm and ag/livestock program and practices
  • Assist with general maintenance
  • Participate in farm events and tours

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with animals (farm care preferred)
  • Friendly, respectful and confident interacting with people
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Experience with sustainable farming practices a plus
  • Apiary/bee hive experience a plus
  • Knowledge of organic or regenerative agriculture a plus but not required
  • Veterinary Technician experience, FFA/4H experience a plus

Additional Requirements
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
