Underwriting Manager, Agriculture, Farm Family Insurance

At Farm Family Insurance, we invite you to elevate your career as our new Underwriting Manager, Agriculture, to join our underwriting organization. Based in one of our offices, you'll step into a pivotal leadership role, driving the daily operations of our underwriting unit with precision and agility.

You'll ensure policy changes and reinstatements are handled quickly and accurately, always meeting regulatory standards and service level goals. Be at the forefront of impactful projects and strategic initiatives, shaping the direction of underwriting and making a real difference in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

How You Will Create an Impact

  • Expertly oversee underwriting operations, ensuring timely, accurate processing of policy changes and reinstatements while maintaining compliance with all regulations.
  • Coach and support underwriters, provide co-signs for guideline adherence, facilitate ongoing training and development, adjust workloads for optimal flow, and set clear performance goals for team members.
  • Establish and refine processes to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as key liaison for territory coordinating with field leadership, responding to claims inquiries, and regulatory tasks.
  • Lead underwriting audits, enforce best practices, and actively participate in strategic projects and committee meetings.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bring over eight years of P&C underwriting experience, preferably with exposure to leading teams and working with agricultural risks.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in underwriting systems and data feeds.
  • Exhibit strong business acumen, analytical decision-making, and resilience, thriving in fast-paced environments and adapting to evolving challenges.
  • Lead with emotional intelligence, fostering collaboration, providing meaningful coaching, and building strong relationships across teams and partners.
  • Communicate confidently with executive leadership and peers, leveraging polished presentation skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite and key business software.
  • A college degree and/or insurance industry designation(s) will help move you to the top of the list.

The base salary range is $90,000 - $120,000 (based on experience and location). Additionally, this position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. We're proud to offer a range of competitive and comprehensive benefits packages.
