Job Description

The Senior Product Manager owns the growth and profitability for either the LOB or Region they are assigned. Theyare responsible fordeveloping a product& pricingstrategy that delivers relevant solutions to our clients& agentswhile protecting the financial strength of the organization.They have a focus on organizational partnership, market selection, Agent & Client experience, and overall risk management.They work very independently and serve asa mentorto other product managers on the team.

This is a 100%in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Owns growth and profitability for assigned LOB or Region, including YoY growth targets,developingand achieving our rate plan, and proactivelyidentifyingand addressing key concerns.Provides monitoring and surveillance of key initiatives and monitors progress and success.Elevates concerns and proposessolutionsSenior Leadership Team.

  • Oversees vendor management and partnership for LOB and/or regional initiatives (e.g., HSB).

  • Responsible foridentifyingnew focus markets and a comprehensive strategy to profitably grow our markets. This position will continuously reimagine how we deliver value to our markets (clients) by leading agent/client workshops designed to better understand our client needs and will serve as an expert in our products and markets.

  • Proactivelyidentifies,assesses, andimplementssolutions aimed at controlling a broad range of risks facing the organization (ERM). This includes recommendations on CAT management, reinsurance structure, and agency footprint. Provide leadership team with periodic industry intelligence on emerging issues.

  • Helps develop product management team by cultivating a culture where ideas are welcomed and shared. Actively engages team and provides training and mentoring to other product managers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reviews pricing, design features, and associated critical success factors such as distribution, marketing, underwriting and claims to make recommendations on all the above.Works collaboratively across divisions to incorporateexpertiseand knowledge into a holistic strategy for achieving company success.

  • Works closely with other areas and IT todetermineproject prioritization and implementation.

  • Provides leadership to all functionalareas asrelated to product design and management. Makes recommendations based on in-depthfunctionaland regional knowledge and opportunities forimprovement.

  • Utilizesindustry reporting tools toprovidecompetitor insight, market share and performance within a region or line of business to senior leadership team.

  • Works closely withBusinessIntelligence team to develop standardized monthly reports for specified region and/or line of business to measure andmonitorperformance of growth and profitability and product developmentinitiatives.

  • Makes recommendations for development of product enhancements and new products based on competitor, field, and client feedback.

  • Works with marketing toidentifyareas of focus and opportunity.Develops plan, inclusive of market research and analysis, toassistin prospecting initiatives, marketing campaigns, and branding.Supports marketing in the development of marketing collateral (both agent and client facing).

  • Manages strategies related to multiple product profitability objectives.Works cross-functionally with Underwriting, Claims, and agencies toidentifyloss drivers and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Leads the coordination and implementation of new products and product changes. Spearheads productrelatedinternal and external training and education.

  • Develops and executes long-term business productplanthatdrivesprofitable growth at the local market level. Functions as a technical resourcetoleadership and other functional areas.

  • Analyzes and reviews financial results, product profitability, business mix and competitive information and designs forecasting models for the organization. Functions as the expert on productissues.

  • Guides the process of sponsoring/evaluating new tools and technology to enhance product performance with a focus on Innovation. Validates and confirms effective execution of pricing and product initiatives.

  • Leads and coordinates critical internal processes including Growth and Profitability calls and Operational Reviews.

  • Leads and coordinates the Product Development process.

  • Leads cross-functional strategy teams and works closely with the Regional Field Executives to execute that strategy.

  • Possessesin-depth understanding of all Property and Casualty lines of business offered. Specificexpertisebased on assigned LOB or Region.

  • Works closely with Project Management Organization to build project charters and develop execution plans for product enhancements and new product offerings.

  • Works with Regional Field Executives and Actuarial to develop annual growth plans byagent, MLGA, state, region, and line ofbusiness.

  • Works closely with Project Management Organization,ITManagement, and Business Analysts to build annual line of business maintenance schedules for rate and regulatory changes.

  • Works closely with Project Management Organization andITManagement toidentifyand implement technology enhancements within the annual businessplan.

  • Develops annual business plan for assigned lines of business or Region including product development projects, Growth & Profitability actions, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 8 to 10 years of industry experience.

  • Six years ofpreviousProduct Management Experience or minimum of eight years in underwriting/actuarial or other industry experience accompanied with at least two years of Product Management experience.

  • Experience and knowledge of project management.

  • Experience and knowledge of risk segmentation.

  • Experience and knowledge of insurance pricing.

  • Understanding ofthe operational nature of product implementation and the product life cycle.

  • Track recordof prior success with increasing positions of responsibilities.

  • Comfortablewith, andadaptable to,new technologies.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Adept at communicating complex concepts ina simple way.

  • Ability to travel on behalf of the company.

  • Ability to effectively manage high pressure situations.

  • Strong negotiating skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional insurance designation preferred.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will becommensuratewith candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost oflaborin that location.In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

Pay Range Omaha, Albany, & Richmond $95,000 - $120,000

Pay Range Chicago & NYC $100,000 - $135,000
