Job description

ASSISTANT MANAGER, HARDLINES DEPARTMENTS
Reports to: Store Manager
Classification: Exempt/Salaried
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in a first-line management role by implementing and enforcing company policies. Oversee Hardlines departments, including merchandising standards such as endcaps and display tables, while managing and maintaining store schedules.
This position reports directly to the Store Manager and supports overall store operations, including supervision of all employees. Ensuring all Team Members are executing our Gold Standards of Operational Excellence including customer service, merchandising, staffing, training, and sales and labor goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide outstanding customer service through friendly, prompt, and accurate assistance.
• Supervise and coordinate all store staff, identifying opportunities to improve performance and operational efficiency.
• Oversee personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary measures, while training and coaching both new and existing employees to consistently meet store standards.
• Assist in planning, directing and coordinating safety and loss prevention programs.
• Support financial risk analysis and oversee inventory management, implementing shrink-reduction strategies to protect company assets.
• Carry out core store functions, including email communication, operating registers, bookkeeping, scanning, using equipment (pallet jacks and tow motors), price changes, ad setup, merchandising, freight check-in, in-store pickup, and managing Outfitter utilization, product financing, and registrations.
• Collaborate with management to identify and implement strategies that improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Prepare and submit various management reports and employee work schedules.
• Regularly review ads, circulars, and company bulletins to maintain awareness of pricing updates and ensure accurate implementation in-store.
• Complete all required online job training through the Outfitter’s website and manage the learning management system by reviewing and updating training records as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate merchandise overages and shortages to the buying staff and Regional Director.
• Ensure the repair shop operates efficiently.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel via car, air travel, and Farm amp; Home Supply vehicle to various locations including stores for meetings, events, and trainings, etc.
• Demonstrate flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Consistent attendance for regularly scheduled work shifts is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds occasionally engaging in assisted lifting over 50 pounds, specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
