Requirements

Job Summary:

Will be adaptable and capable of handling various duties, including loading and unloading ย potatoes, hauling fertilizer, working on irrigation systems, maintaining equipment, and supporting harvest operations. The specific tasks assigned will depend on the individual's capabilities and the farm's needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loading and unloading potatoes: Operate machinery and equipment to safely load and unload potatoes from bins or storage facilities as required
  • Fertilizer hauling: Transport fertilizer to designated fields, ensuring timely and efficient application
  • Irrigation system support: Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, ensuring proper water distribution to crops
  • Equipment maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, including tractors, machinery, and vehicles, to ensure their optimal functionality
  • Harvest operations: During harvest season, assist in running a storage line or operate tractors in the fields, depending on individual capabilities and farm requirements
  • General farm tasks: Be prepared to assist with other farm-related tasks as needed, such as cleaning and organizing storage areas and assisting with general farm maintenance
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned; duties may be subject to change based on the farm's needs and priorities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • No specific educational experience required
  • Prior experience working on a farm and familiarity with farm operations are essential
  • Knowledge of farm equipment and machinery is preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in operating farm machinery and equipment
  • Basic understanding of irrigation systems and their maintenance
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and repairs
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software as a userย 
  • Valid state motor vehicle license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to drive a manual truck is requiredย 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in operating farm machinery and equipment
  • Basic understanding of irrigation systems and their maintenance
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and repairs
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software as a user
  • Valid state motor vehicle license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to drive a manual truck is required

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to climb stationary ladders and climb in and out of machinery
  • Can lift, move, push, and pull up to 100lbs
  • Ability to use hands to fix and replace machinery parts
  • Have physical stamina as you need to be able to perform laborious tasks as needed to assist farm personnel
  • Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
  • Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas

WORK HOURS:

  • Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Planting and Harvest seasons will required weekend and longer hours
