Willmar Poultry Farms is seeking a full-time Brood Farm Manager.  An Affiliate of Life-Science Innovations, Willmar Poultry Farms is a commercial grow out company who grows turkeys for various customers, with farms located in the Willmar, MN area. 
Summary of Core Responsibilities:
This position oversees day-to-day operations of the turkey farm.  This position is responsible for turkey flock health, barn maintenance, ventilation, mechanical systems, and processing flow and timing.
Flock Care & Barn Maintenance
  • Manages day-to-day operations with the goal of keeping the birds healthy
  • Lead, train, motivate, discipline and supervise employees on the Brood Farm with the objective of building and maintaining a high performing unit to meet or exceed production goals.  Ensure the authority and responsibility for each position is defined and understood.
  • Checks the barns multiple times per day for ventilation, temperature, other environmental conditions, mortality, water supply or spills, equipment functioning properly, and litter conditions
  • Records information, such as the mortality, weights, and water consumption, and relays that information to the Serviceman
  • Orders sufficient feed from FSE weekly
  • Assists in barn upkeep such as spreading shavings, ensures equipment is working correctly, repairs machinery at the farm as needed
  • Does the laundry for the farm
  • Answers alarm calls and checks the farm to ensure the farm is in working condition
  • Assist subordinates with duties to keep up production
  • Perform general maintenance on the farm as needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Follow the directives of the Serviceman
  • Responsible for cleaning & disinfecting barn after each flock moves
Regulation
  • Follow and enforce and company policies and procedures related to bio-security, animal welfare, and safety; and all regulatory requirements.
Ideal Candidate Summary:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
  • Experience working on a brooder farm site preferred
  • Prior experience in animal husbandry and welfare preferred
  • Previous experience leading and managing employees.
  • Experience in operating machinery preferred (i.e. skid steer, tractor, etc.)
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the turkey industry and government regulations is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic repair work and maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of barn ventilation systems preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate and interact with all levels of employees.   Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills preferred.

Schedule
  • General working hours: 7:00AM-4:30PM, Monday to Friday
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule, with occasional nights and frequent weekends.

Starting wage: $21.54-$26.92
