As our agriculture programs continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Farm Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our expanding farm portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to help build one of Maryland's leading community agriculture programs while making a meaningful impact in the lives of immigrant and underserved communities.


Position Summary

The Farm Operations Manager leads daily operations across AfriThrive's production farms. The position is responsible for crop production, farm infrastructure, equipment, production staff, interns, and volunteers, ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality, culturally appropriate produce that supports AfriThrive's Healthy Food Access, Food as Medicine, and community agriculture initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

The Farm Operations Manager will:

  • Lead daily farm operations across multiple production sites.
  • Develop and implement seasonal crop production plans.
  • Manage planting, irrigation, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
  • Supervise farm staff, interns, seasonal workers, and production volunteers.
  • Maintain farm infrastructure, equipment, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.
  • Monitor production goals, budgets, and operational performance.
  • Prepare operational reports and production records.
  • Collaborate with other program staff to support organizational initiatives.

WORK CONDITIONS

This role may require frequent standing, walking, stooping, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to stand for up to three hours continuously and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills and vision adjustments. Work often occurs in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and ice, for periods of up to three hours.
